Bueno, bueno, pues esta serie dedicada a dar un buen repaso a la música del Northwest sigue a buen ritmo y lo hacemos con la tercera parte dedicada al estado de Washington, recordando que las dos anteriores estaban dedicadas monograficamente a las ciudades de Tacoma y de Seattle, la primera de ellas que tuvo la suerte de contar con las dos mayores bandas del Northwest, los "Wailers" y los "Sonics" y Seattle por ser la mayor ciudad del estado y lógicamente donde se aglutinaban la mayor cantidad de bandas.
Pues esta tercera parte está dedicada a las bandas de las otras ciudades del estado, y mas o menos siguen la misma tónica que las dos anteriores y esta repleta de bandas instrumentales, sobre todo las mas antiguas y muchas de garage crudo, intentado seguir la línea abierta por los "Sonics" y como todas las del Northwest, con muchas canciones marcadas por el ritmo "Louie, Louie".
He intentado rebuscar esas oscuras bandas que no suelen aparecer en ninguno de los recopilatorios del género para tener una visión mas global de la música que allí se hacía y ha habido muy buenos descubrimientos que se combinan con las ya habituales, y en cuanto a estilos, partiendo del original r´n´b y desembocando en el garage mas clásico y agresivo y lo que me ha sorprendido es que hay muy pocos grupos en onda sicodélica.
A veces ha sido difícil cotejar la información, pues incluso en las mejores páginas sobre el Northwest hay discrepancias, pero poco a poco se va aclarando la cosa, por ejemplo, con "Velvet Illusion", se tenía la idea, que yo tambien compartia de que eran una banda californiana, seguramente por grabar en un sello de allí y haber aparecido en múltiples recopilatorios de ese estado, pero la banda reivindicó en varias ocasiones que eran de Yakima en Washington.
Otro ejmplo son los "Jolly Green Giants" que hasta no hace mucho la situaban en Oregón, pero al final quedó demostrado que eran de Spokane, también con ellos se especuló que eran los "Sonics" con ese seudónimo, seguramente por la contundencia y la gran similitud con los de Tacoma, pero ellos lo desmintieron diciendo que no tenían anda que ver con ellos
Otra curiosidad es la gran variedad de grupos que ya han tenido aquí sus "complete recordings", pues ya desde hace muchos años que soy un gran admirador de la música de esta zona y ha habido aquí muchos trabajos sobre el "Northwest".
Poco mas que añadir, solo que no voy a comentar sobre las bandas participantes, mas que nada por no hacerles el feo a las demás, bastantes nombres conocidos para los asiduos y muchos que yo personalmente no había ni visto ni escuchando nunca. Poco a poco, vamos aprendiendo un poco sobre la história de la música.
