Turn right at sign and go 0.2 miles to campground.GENERAL COMMENTS:The elevation is 8,300 ft.The campground is a scattered collection of camp sites through astand of Lodgepole pine dotted by patches of grass meadows. Rancheria Creek borders on one side and some sites overlook it. The camp sites are tucked into the trees and may be difficult tosee; this characteristic gives the campground a dispersed feel. Although there are no facilities, horses are permitted incampground. This nice family campground has very good privacybetween camp sites. Nature walks are held each Thursday, Friday,and Saturday - begin at Registration/Visitor Center (intersectionof Huntington Lake Rd. and Kaiser Pass Trail/Forest Rt. 80).Huntington Lake with all its water sports, restaurants, andinterpretive programs, is about 6 miles from the campground.This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. The campground is about mid-way between thegiant sequoias of Mckinley Grove and Wishon Reservoir. (State Rt.168) and Dinkey Creek Rd., take Dinkey Creek Rd. east 12.3 milesto campground.GENERAL COMMENTS:The elevation is 5,800 ft.The campground, heavily wooded and shaded by some huge Ponderosapine, cedar, and other conifers, is an excellent familydestination. There are nine loops - A, B, C, and E through Kstretching out 1.5 miles along Dinkey Creek. Loop A is forgroups only and is not included in the site count for thiscampground. There are two outstanding swimming areas along thecreek called "Honeymoon Pool" and "The Slicks." The former istwo pools carved out of granite. The latter is a series of waterslides and a pool also carved out of granite. Both are great funfor children and adults alike. At entrance to campground isDinkey Creek Inn, which is a mini-grocery store and lunch counter(breakfast and sandwiches). Fishing supplies and bait are alsoavailable. The Inn is also comprised of cabins which can berented.In back of the Inn is the historic Dinkey Creek Bridge built bythe Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during 1938. For a daytrip, drive 6 miles to McKinley Grove and its giant Redwoods. Pay phone is at the Inn. The thickcanopy of large cedar, pines, and fir limit undergrowth and thusprivacy between camp sites. What privacy screening there iscomes from young oak trees and shrubs. (All campers, including those with reservations, must FIRST go to Registration Office to pay fee and obtain site selection.) After processing at Registration Office, exit back onto Road 222 (back the way you came) and go 1.3 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground.GENERAL COMMENTS:The elevation is 3,400 ft.The campground, one of four in the Bass Lake Recreation Area andacross the road from Bass Lake, is composed of two unnamedoverlapping loops on a hillside overlooking Bass Lake. A fewcamp sites have a limited view of the lake. Cedar, oak, andpines provide ample shade for most camp sites and fair privacy. There is insufficient space for parking boat trailers at anysite. The camp sites have pedestal grilles and stone fire rings. A few sites are adjacent to a creek that feeds the lake.Resorts scattered along the Bass Lake shoreline offer a varietyof services including gas, tackle, bait, boat rentals, limitedgroceries, and a cook's night out.
