Last week, #KingdomNL's CEDAW candidate, Corinne Dettmeijer-Vermeulen, was here in New York for her re-election to the Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). CEDAW, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1979, aims to eliminate discrimination against women in all spheres of life. Corinne, a distinguished advocate against human trafficking and sexual violence, brings invaluable expertise to this role. With over 35 reports on human trafficking and sexual violence, and her work as Dutch National Rapporteur on Trafficking in Human Beings, she's been a leader in this critical field. Today, #KingdomNL collaborated with Slovenia and South Africa to host an insightful event focusing on Ethical AI for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). AI presents enormous opportunities for advancing the SDGs, from enhancing healthcare access to improving education and environmental sustainability. However, it also carries significant risks, such as widening inequalities and undermining human rights.During the event, key insights were shared by speakers from UNDP, UNESCO, and CRAF’d Fund, shedding light on innovative pathways to achieve sustainable development through responsible technology. These discussions emphasized the importance of adopting an ethical and human rights-based approach to AI, ensuring that technological advancements benefit all segments of society while minimizing adverse impacts.🌍🤖

Gedurende deze periode is er één stageplek beschikbaar bij de Politieke Afdeling (PA) en één bij de afdeling Ontwikkelingssamenwerking, Humanitaire Hulp en Mensenrechten (HRD)Uit de vacature:"De stageplek bij de PA richt zich op ondersteuning bij politieke dossiers over conflictsituaties die in de VN-Veiligheidsraad en de AVVN zijn geagendeerd, primair gerelateerd aan het Midden-Oosten. Ook kan je ingezet worden op ondersteuning bij brede, thematische dossiers, zoals vredesopbouw, ontwapeningsbeleid, vredeshandhaving en contraterrorisme. Je draagt bij aan tijdige rapportages en analyses van briefings en onderhandelingen en ondersteunt bij de organisatie van evenementen en inkomende bezoeken. Het kan zijn dat je ook op andere dossiers wordt ingezet.
