I will never get tired of telling people how they can get on TV. In fact, this was the primary focus of my recent discussion on The Powerful Woman with Poppy Owen podcast.Here are the top takeaways and common misconceptions of what media is looking for and how to get more exposure:1. Media is looking for solutions. Yes, the news is driven by the motto "if it bleeds, it leads" and it can feel like the media cycle is an endless conveyor belt of problems. But if you look closely, there's also solutions and calls to action. Don't just stop at the problem. Offer context and a solution.2. Media is looking for fresh new voices. Many people talk themselves out of speaking up because they don't feel as if they're enough: smart enough, young enough, old enough, pretty enough. If you have a point of view and you can communicate it clearly, that's enough to build on.3. Media is looking for authenticity and authority. These are the best ways to stand out on any stage.
